A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, Act I

by William Shakespeare

I'm excited to invite you to our next seasonally-themed Pizza Reading: Act I of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM by William Shakespeare! Since the summer can get so busy for everyone (including myself), I thought it would be nice to keep the readings going through the summer with shorter readings that take us through each act of Shakespeare's famous, fun, and fairy-filled romp! The May reading of Act I is scheduled for this Wednesday, May 24th at 6pm Eastern. For those who aren't familiar with Midsummer, it's comedy set in Athens, and consists of several subplots that revolve around the marriage of Theseus and Hippolyta. In this first Act, we'll meet those royals, some star-crossed lovers (different ones from Verona's), and some local amateur actors (known as "The Mechanicals") planning to put on a play for Theseus and Hippolyta's wedding.

There's plenty of fun roles to go around with this one, and I expect the reading will last no more than 45 minutes, so it's a shorter commitment than usual! You can also access the script online with a quick Google search or check it out from the library (though I will send around a link as well)!

Usual Pizza Reading rules: all participants must read a small part. Please RSVP by Tuesday, May 23rd. I will send along the script, roles, and Zoom details on Wednesday morning. To reiterate: Act I of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM by William Shakespeare Wednesday, May 24 6pm Eastern I hope you can join me for this first installation of our (mid)summer Pizza Reading series!
