Announcing May's Pizza Reading: Terry Pratchett's NATION, adapted by Mark Ravenhill! The reading is scheduled for Wednesday, May 18th at 6pm Eastern.
It's a parallel world, 1860. Two teenagers are thrown together on a South Pacific island when a tsunami leaves Mau's village destroyed, and shipwrecks Daphne thousands of miles from home. Neither speaks the other's language, but somehow they must learn to survive. Together they come of age, overseen by a foul-mouthed parrot, as they discard old doctrine to forge a new Nation.
The legendary Terry Pratchett said of his novel: "I believe that Nation is the best book I have ever written, or will write."
Usual Pizza Reading rules: all participants must read a small part. Please RSVP by Monday, May 16th. I will send along the script, roles, and Zoom details on Tuesday. And if you'd prefer to read from a hardcopy, you can likely find one in your local library.
To reiterate:
